NCHRP Graduate Research Assistant Place of Birth: Vancouver, WA Thesis Topic:Load and Resistance
Factor Design (LFRD) for Deep Foundations Education: B.Sc. Univ. of Massachusetts Lowell, 1998 Background: Kirk, who is often confused with a certain starship captain of lore, is currently the handyman of the GeoSpa World Class Resort and Geotechnical Research Laboratory. With his trusty Leatherman, Kirk repairs everything from a folding desk to the elaborate GeoSpa computer network. When not repairing broken objects, Kirk is updating, analyzing, and cross-referencing several pile databases in his effort to establish Load and Resistance Factor Design (LRFD) guidelines for pile foundations. Such a major project is not given to the graduate student lightly, but Kirk is one of the best and brightest students ever to grace UMass-Lowell. One doesnt graduate with a bachelors degree under the age of 21 without being intelligent, hard-working, and dedicated. When not in the lab, Kirk is often seen with his beautiful new bride, Heidi, or his large and loving family.
